Solid Waste Preparation for Tropical Storm Grace

The Department of Environmental Health (DEH) is advising members of the public on the temporary suspension of residential and commercial garbage collection on Wednesday 18th August, 2021 due to the passing of Tropical Storm Grace.

Normal garbage collection schedule is likely to restart on Thursday 19th August, 2021 and any routes not completed by Friday will be undertaken on Saturday 21st August to close out the week. Meanwhile, operations at the land will close at 5 pm today and will reopen at 7am on Thursday 19th August, 2021.

“We ask that members of the public be patient. Dependent on the severity of the storm, the landfill and the landfill drop off may be busy. We would be grateful if persons can wait to dispose of any materials until a day or two after the all clear. This will help reduce congestion and waiting times at the landfill”, encouraged Michael Haworth, Assistant Director Solid Waste, DEH.

The Department seeks the public’s understanding and apologises for any inconvenience caused by this disruption of services.

For more information, please contact the DEH’s Solid Waste Management Section at 949-8793 or 949-6696.
