An email circulating in the Cayman Islands, stating a snake ate a dog in Prospect, is false.

The email presents this false information in the form of a press release from the Department of Environmental Health. Officials from DEH state that the email was not issued by DEH and the information in the email is fabricated.

"The department is working with Computer Services and the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) to investigate the origins of this email," said DEH Director Roydell Carter. "It seems someone sent this email to create excitement and sensationalism."

Members of the public are advised to delete the email if they receive it.
